Govt Abandons Plans For Special Session on GST :
Government gave up plans to reconvene a session of Parliament to get GST Constitutional Amendment Bill approved, a move that is likely to delay the implementation of Goods and Services Tax by April 1, 2016.
The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) headed by PM Narendra Modi decided to recommend to the President to prorogue the Monsoon Session, which was adjourned last month, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said.
The government had kept the Monsoon Session alive in hopes of building a consensus on GST, which has been billed as one of the biggest economic reform.

Swiss Govt Discloses New Name :
Neo Corp is the latest in a series of Indian names that have been published in the official gazette of the Swiss government about whom the tax authorities in India have sought information from their counterparts of Switzerland.
About a dozen such names have been disclosed so far, while many other requests are pending with the Swiss authorities who conduct their own due diligence before starting the process of sharing the information.
The notification about the concerned entity's right to appeal is generally the first step in the information exchange process.
This is typically seen as the Swiss government in-principle agreeing to share the information.

Maha to Seek RBI Nod on DCC Loan Sanction :
The Maharashtra government will seek RBI's permission to allow the financially-strong district central cooperative banks (DCCs) to disburse loans to their neighbouring districts with weaker counterparts.
Marathwada, a region reeling under severe drought, is the top priority of the state government.
Out of the eight DCC banks in this region, five are financially weak and hence their target of distributing a certain amount of farm loans would be shifted to commercial banks.
The state machinery has focused on the region by implementing various schemes, including Jal Yukta Shivar, to supply water by railway and distribution of food and fodder.

Up to Rs. 15L Award For Info Against Defaulters :
The Income Tax department has brought out new guidelines to award secret informers providing actionable clue about "untraceable" assesses who owe huge taxes and money to government including in TDS and self assessment tax category.
The department last week issued a set of new instructions to all its offices in the country stating any person who provides credible inputs against a declared defaulter would be rewarded a 10 per cent booty of tax realised from such an entity, but upto a maximum limit of 15 lakh.
The new guidelines, effective from the last and current financial year, have been issued by the CBDT keeping in mind the huge challenge of tackling black funds in the country and at the same time boosting the revenue kitty.

NASA Robot to Hop and Tumble on Rough Planets :
A team of researchers from California Institute of Technology has detected a 13.2-billion-years old galaxy which may be the most distant galaxy ever found.
The universe itself is about 13.8 billion years old. The galaxy we have observed is named EGS8p7, is unusually luminous and may be powered by a population of unusually hot stars, says Sirio Belli, Caltech graduate student who worked on the project.
It may have special properties that enabled it to create a large bubble of ionised hydrogen much earlier than is possible for more typical galaxies at these times he added.

Rs. 192 Crore Released to Prepare Smart City Plan :
Union Urban Development Ministry sanctioned a sum of 192 crore under Smart City Mission for 96 cities included in the ambitious project.
Each of the cities has been given 2 crore for preparing Smart City plan.
2 crore provided for each city is meant for preparation of city level Smart City Plans with the assistance of technical and hand holding agencies.
The city level plans are to be submitted to the Urban Development Ministry in the next three months for evaluation for selecting the top 20 rankers for extending financial support during the current financial year.
